Students may grant anyone access to view elements of their student record that are protected by FERPA using the Proxy Management system in Banner Self-Service. Those granted access will be referred to as a “Proxy.” Proxy users will be given their own login information to access the system.
Students may also grant their Proxy permission to speak to designated College representatives (via telephone) about data on authorized pages as indicated in the Proxy Management system.
Billing information is not available in Proxy Management. Students can grant anyone permission to access their financial record and pay their bill using TouchNet. Please refer to the Student Billing Information website for more information.

Activating Your Account (Initiated by Your Student)
Once you have been added to the Proxy Management system by a student, you will receive an email at the email address provided by the student.
Access the temporary link and enter the provided temporary password.
Set up your permanent password for subsequent logins – must be six (6) characters.
Request and enter the one-time passcode (OTP) code.
You will have a tile for each student who has granted you access to information. The dropdown will contain links to each page you have been authorized to view.

How do I access the Proxy Management system?
Your student must grant you access to the Proxy Management system.
You will receive an email with directions to reset your password.
How long will I have access to the Proxy Management system?
When your student adds you to the Proxy Management system, they will enter start and end dates of your access.

Will my password expire?
Yes, your password will expire in one (1) year. When your password expires, the next time you log in, you will be prompted to reset your password.
My student has designated me as a Proxy, but I can't see any information?
Your student has granted you access, but also designates which elements of their student record you can view. It is possible your student has not authorized access to all pages.

Can I be a Proxy to more than one student?
Yes. Each student may grant you access to the Proxy Management system; you will see a separate tile for each student.
Each student has control over access to their record and may authorize different levels of access.

My email address has changed, how can I update it in the Proxy Management system?
Your student will need to end your current account and then re-add you as a Proxy using your new email address.

What is a passphrase?
Students may opt to grant their Proxy permission to speak to designated College representatives (via telephone) about data on authorized pages as indicated in the Proxy Management system by providing a passphrase.
Designated College representatives will verify your identity, passphrase, and access before speaking with you.
Providing a passphrase does not constitute consent to the disclosure of other protected information.
Providing a passphrase does not grant authority to act on the student’s behalf, but rather serves to provide access to certain protected student information as indicated by the student.
Lafayette College administrators cannot share the passphrase with you. You must request it from your student.
